THE SCENT & SUMMIT STORY
Scent & Summit began with a love of wild places and the memories we carry home from them. Over the years, I’ve traveled to 54 of America’s 63 national parks, hiking through desert canyons, alpine forests, rugged coastlines, and mountain landscapes across the country. A few years ago, I moved from South Florida to Seattle, where Olympic, Mount Rainier, and North Cascades National Parks suddenly became part of my backyard. Living in the Pacific Northwest deepened my appreciation for these places and made exploring the outdoors an even bigger part of my life. Those experiences became the foundation for Scent & Summit.
INSPIRED BY THE PARKS
Travel leaves us with photographs, stories, maps, and souvenirs. But some of the strongest memories of a place come from something much less tangible: scent. Evergreens after rain, warm stone beneath the desert sun, wildflowers along an alpine trail, salt carried on a coastal breeze, and smoke drifting from a distant campfire can bring you back to a place almost instantly. I wanted to capture that feeling — not simply recreate the way a landscape smells, but create fragrances that bring back the experience of being there. That idea became Scent & Summit.
DESIGNED TO FEEL LIKE A PLACE
Creating each candle begins with the park itself — its landscape, climate, vegetation, atmosphere, and the trails, viewpoints, and moments that make it memorable. From there, individual fragrance oils are blended and re-blended to build something layered and distinctive. Different combinations are tested, waxes and wicks are evaluated, and each candle is burned again and again until the fragrance feels balanced and true to the place that inspired it. The goal isn’t simply to create a candle that smells like pine, desert flowers, or the ocean. It’s to create something that feels like standing somewhere wild. Every Scent & Summit fragrance is custom blended and every candle is poured by hand in Seattle.
MADE FOR THE JOURNEY
Creating things by hand has always been part of my life. My background in architecture taught me to appreciate design, materials, and the process of turning an idea into something tangible. Woodworking, building, and other hands-on projects followed, and candle making eventually began the same way: as something new to learn, experiment with, and create from the ground up. What started as another creative project quickly became an obsession with fragrance and the way individual notes can come together to create something remarkably familiar. Eventually, two things I loved most — making things and exploring wild places — became one.

Scent & Summit is inspired by the trails you’ve walked, the parks still on your list, and the places you’d return to tomorrow if you could. Light one after a long day, remember an old adventure, or dream about the next one. Because sometimes you don’t need a plane ticket or a trail map to return somewhere special. Sometimes, all it takes is a scent.
